HPC in Industry: a new EuroCC Italy course for businesses in Turin

The course

High Performance Computing (HPC) is essential for the world of scientific research and industries that want to be at the forefront and competitive in the digital world. This free course aims to provide a general and comprehensive overview of HPC technologies, their applications, and their impact on the production process. At the end of the course, participants will not only have a general idea of the modus operandi but will also be able to identify the HPC and data analytics needs of the company to define an investment strategy that may concern applications, software development and AI methodologies, or even the installation of new hardware

Prerequisites and Target Audience

To participate in the course, basic IT knowledge is required, as well as an interest in using HPC technologies.

The training program is particularly aimed at entrepreneurs, R&D, IT and OT managers, project and innovation managers. The course content can also be useful to those in the company who deal with innovation and digital transformation.

Instructors

The course is led by some of the most important representatives of the Italian Supercomputing network and EuroCC Italy partners.

Francesco Bottau, Cineca
He earned a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2001. He worked for 4 years at a race car manufacturer as an aerodynamicist and CFD engineer, where he developed and used fluid dynamics simulation tools for industrial applications. He currently works as an HPC application engineer in the Industrial POC group of Cineca’s HPC department, mainly dealing with the development and optimization of CFD applications.

Domitilla Brandoni, Cineca
She earned a Ph.D. in mathematics with a thesis on tensorial and matrix decompositions for image classification. She currently works in Cineca’s HPC Department, focusing on the use of HPC technologies in artificial intelligence projects.

Eric Pascolo, Cineca
He obtained a Master in High Performance Computing from the SISSA in Trieste. He worked as an HPC researcher at OGS in the field of operational oceanography and currently holds the position of HPC solution architect and project manager at Cineca in the context of technology transfer actions and innovation towards industries, particularly SMEs.
