The Digital Twin of Emilia-Romagna Region

Within the European network of national research centers, EuroCC Italy, EuroCC@GCS (Germany), and EuroCC Estonia have initiated a collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region to support the works of the Digital Twin of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The activities aim to facilitate the exchange of best practices among institutions, stakeholders, and companies. The inaugural event on December 7, 2023, marked the beginning of these fruitful collaborations, establishing a detailed work plan.

Applying the Digital Twin model to the urban context allows the development of a powerful technological tool capable of simulating and predicting the responses of the territorial and environmental system. This supports public policies related to carbon neutrality goals, combating and mitigating climate change, and improving air quality.

A prerequisite for the realization of the Digital Twin of the Emilia-Romagna Region is a detailed and widespread mapping of existing or ongoing projects on the use of digital twins in various application areas throughout the Emilia-Romagna territory. This survey will enable the monitoring of the development and application of this powerful technology, the observation and analysis of project evolution, and the connection of all innovation players into a territorial community to foster the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The sharing activities will continue in September 2024 with the presence of the Emilia-Romagna Region and EuroCC Italy at the Tallinna Linna Digikaksiku konverents 2024.
